Roscoe Village is like walking through a village within a city. Our historic neighborhood is a unique gem on the north side of Chicago. It's the kind of place where you run into your friends and neighbors on your way to one of our many independent restaurants and retailers on Roscoe Street. This established, yet vibrant and exciting street, gives credence to the notion that main street is the hub of a community.
We are in the running through America's Main Streets Contest to win $25,000 for the neighborhood to beautify the neighborhood. We need your help to vote in the contest!
As one of a few neighborhoods in the city that does not currently have a Special Service Area (known as a BID in other cities), we would use the money to beautify the neighborhood with new hanging planters, introduce wayfinding signage, purchase neighborhood branded trash & recycling receptacles, add public art, and improve local community programming and public spaces.
Here we are all about community and anything we can do to show our appreciation to those who live in the village is worth doing. Artistic and cultural activities strengthen a community, particularly when they reveal and celebrate its character and identity, and that is exactly what we are looking to do if we were to win this money.
Quarterfinalist voting runs until April 19th. You can vote as many times as you want, every day! To vote, please visit www.mainstreetcontest.com/profile/101
